Traveled to Chicago last weekend for the state championship race. Despite an attempt by the organizers to screw downstate riders, I was able to cross the line first and claim my first state championship. I managed to wreck twice in the process, both through my own stupidity. Above is a photo of one of the three sandy areas we rode through. We rode along Lake Michigan for a bit before entering this section. This was my favorite part of the course. I was able to put a gap between the other riders and me almost everytime through it. Winning margin...30 seconds. Downstate rider 1, Chicago riders 0.
